The 80th Anniversary Commemoration of Osaka University International Symposium Series (Hampshire Hotel-Plaza, Groningen, The Netherlands)

In 2011, Osaka University celebrates its 80th anniversary and has scheduled a variety of activities to pay attention to this special occasion. One of the events is the Osaka University -RUG symposium entitled ‘Bio-inspired Materials and Functionalities’. This was held on June 22, 2011 in Groningen at Hampshire Hotel Plaza.

The Scientific Organizing Committee developed an attractive lecture program (see following PDF) with the aim to have lecturers from both Osaka University and RUG as well as a few external ones, providing the opportunity to explore mutual interest and activities in fields that are relevant for both universities.  It was expected that young (staff) members of the research teams of the lecturers attending the symposium also participate this symposium. The format of the symposium was to present state-of-the-art science to inform each other on recent achievements on the selected fields.

The goal of our both universities is to regularly organize similar scientific symposia, alternatingly in Groningen and Osaka, to further strengthen the ties between the partner universities as well as to develop strong scientific collaborations by exchanging students and researchers.
